Terrestrial Ecology Research Group, Department of Ecology and Ecosystem Management, Technische Universität München (TUM), Germany
We offer one Ph.D.-position within the interdisciplinary project “Future-oriented risk management for biotic pest events in forests to ensure sustainable forest management”. The project aims at quantifying effects of insecticide applications in forests on the food web of non-target organisms.
The candidate will be responsible in developing NGS-techniques to quantify tree insect community structure and food webs, with a focus on Lepidoptera. Field work, in particular the sampling of insects, will be conducted together with another PhD-student.
The research group of Wolfgang W. Weisser is interested in investigating mechanistically the links between land use, biodiversity and ecosystem functioning. Information about current research projects and group members can be found under www.toek.wzw.tum.de.
